... Flashlight from Production

November 5, 2008

In our shipping department, a VAG RIKO® Plunger Valve DN 800/900/1000 is being packed up for shipping. Why it is so black on the inside? This is due to its Inertol-Poxitar® bituminous coating. It is the preferred coating material for use with media having an increased proportion of abrasive substances.

At the Basell Polyolefine GmbH plant in Wesseling the valve will be installed in the cooling water circuit. In connection with a pneumatic brake-and-lift cylinder, the plunger valve will control the process water flow at the outlet. At the same time, the valve serves as a protective device against water hammers in case of power failures or the failure of a pump.

Basell Polyolefine GmbH in Wesseling produces 2 m metric tons of plastic pellets for the manufacturing industry per year. With the help of heat and pressure, various plastics are made from crude oil by way of complex thermal and chemical industrial processes.

Aggressive process waters require durable and resistant valves to function trouble-free under these severe conditions. For this purpose Basell already uses 7 VAG plunger valves and has another two in stock in case a replacement is needed.

For the current order, the new VAG RIKO® Plunger Valve DN 900 was delivered for the first time. Due to its modified face-to-face length the valve was adapted with FFR pieces so that it can be installed on site without any rebuilding measures.
