Veolia Eau visits Mannheim for final acceptance of VAG EKN® DN 2000 Butterfly Valve

September 12, 2008

On 9 September 2008, the project managers of Veolia Eau (Paris, France) paid a visit to VAG’s Mannheim headquarters for the final acceptance of a VAG EKN® DN 2000 Butterfly Valve. They came on behalf of S.E.D.I.F., a French water supply company, and were accompanied by our distribution partner Georg Fischer.

VAG-Armaturen GmbH is supplying a total of four of these safety valves to S.E.D.I.F. (Société des Eaux d’Ile de France), with a diameter of 2 metres each and a nominal pressure rating of 16 bars. These valves ensure uninterrupted water supply to the southern parts of Paris in case of a pipe burst.

For this customer, a customised version of the drop weight, consisting of 140 single plates with a weight of 25 kg each, is mounted to the valves. These valves will replace the ones that have been in service for many years and were installed in manholes not equipped with lifting gear. In these cases, the individual plates can also be mounted and disassembled without using lifting gear.

The size 8 brake-and-lift cylinder used in this project has a total weight of 3.5 metric tons and is currently the largest type used for single-sided drives.
