The VAG-Group is extending the world-wide network of its Technical Service. To be able to offer its customers a consistently high standard also on the international level, VAG trains its Technical Service employees at the Mannheim head office.
From 6 to 10 December, the first service training course was held. A total of 18 employees from 12 different countries successfully attended the training course. The training course focused mainly on practical training. Divided into small groups, participants were intensively trained in the commissioning and repair of shut-off valves, of control and air valves as well as of hydraulic brake-and-lift units.

A highlight that just cannot be missed at the IFAT in Munich is VAG’s DN 4000 butterfly valve. With its striking internal diameter of 4 metres, a height of 4.80 metres, a width of 6.90 metres, a depth of 1.75 metres and a weight of 47 tonnes, the VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve is the largest valve exhibited at the trade fair.

A drinking water supply system must be able to pass clean drinking water through a functioning supply network with as little loss as possible. For this purpose, VAG offers a sophisticated Pressure Management System which can significantly reduce water losses.

At this year’s leading trade fair for the water, waste water, waste management and raw material industries world-wide, the IFAT ENTSORGA in short, the VAG-Group is going to set off on an expedition through two worlds. Water is humankind’s most important resource world-wide. Hot countries are getting dryer and dryer while others are drowning in water. What is needed is state-of-the art water management, both in wet and in dry areas.

VAG’s new hydraulic brake and lift unit is available in three versions and thus suitable for all operating conditions. Combined with a VAG EKN® Butterfly Valve or a VAG RIKO® Plunger Valve, it serves as a quick-closing safety valve at turbine inlets and in pumping stations or as a quick-opening valve in the turbine bypass.

Last week, the VAG Group was able to hand over a donation cheque in the amount of € 10,000 to the Dr Felix Bulnes hospital in Santiago de Chile, the hospital which was destroyed by the earthquake.
Built as early as 1940, the hospital now ranges among the city’s largest hospitals and is the place to turn to for over one million inhabitants of the western parts of the city. Hit by one of the severest earthquakes in the history of Chile at the end of February as well as over 270 aftershocks, the region suffered considerable damage. The Doctor Felix Bulnes hospital located in the west of Santiago de Chile had to be completely evacuated because of its heavily damaged building.

On 4 March, the first “Actuator Day” of the VAG Group took place in Hodonín (Czech Republic). On this day, JMA, VAG’s Czech subsidiary, offered seven well-known manufacturers of actuators the possibility of presenting their range of products. Visitors to the in-house trade show included 200 prospective customers from the general industry, water supply industry, generation of energy sector and technology companies.
