What is the advantage of a finite element calculation over current constructions?

February 1, 2012

A finite element calculation (FEM) makes it possible to calculate the distribution of stresses and probabilities of fracture in valve components in advance with the help of a computer. This means that at an early stage of development, clear statements can be made concerning component stresses on a later date. Ideal designs can also be developed in the run-up to construction and structural reliability can be assessed.
