Of the originally enrolled 80 participants from 35 countries, 39 participants eventually managed to reach VAG’s headquarters in Mannheim this year. The closure of the airspace over Europe caused by the ash coming from the eruption of the Icelandic volcano made travelling to Mannheim impossible for many participants.

Contrary to what had been expected, almost half of the participants enrolled arrived at VAG’s site on Monday morning. This induced the organisation team to carry out the event according to plan. Due to the reduced number of participants, a week of highly effective training courses could be carried out. The smaller seminar groups also allowed one or the other discussion around the subject of valve technology during which many practical questions could be clarified.

Besides the theoretical part of the training courses during which specialized knowledge of products, fields of application and designs was taught, the practical training part rounded off the week of training. On Thursday evening, the various levels reached during training were tested in a final examination.
The event was a great success also this time around, despite the unfavourable circumstances at the beginning. The conference, which is held twice per year, will therefore take place again in autumn, as usual.
